Every new avatar needs stuff! Even if you don't have a home (so you can skip loading up on the free furniture), you need some better clothes and handy-fun accessories. You can't find *all* the fun stuff at the newbie stores, but you can get a great start.

One word of advice: your inventory is going to explode. Not literally, I just mean that going to these places will increase the count of items in your inventory wildly. I think I added over 3,500 items my first week. Now, that's not bad, you nust have to realize that you'll need to organize and go thru those thousands of items sometime. And any avatar can shop at the newbie stores anytime (no matter how long you have been in-world), so you don't have to worry about grabbing everything you can right away. Get things that make sense, that catch your interest enough that you'll look at the items. Also, toss (delete from inventory) any items you don't want or won't use. In a box of 162 free clothes, for example, I can toss all the free women's shoes (because my avatar is male, and flipping sexes is low on my list).

Some things cost L$1, which works out ot be about one-quarter cent $US. Even so, some avatars start off with zero Linden and don't want to buy any Linden. You'd only need about L$25 to load up on a good 3,000 items at these newbie shops, when boxes of hundreds of clothes and accessories are prices at just $L1. But how do you get that L$25? Clue #1: Don't beg for it. Most folks in SL are cool on helping newbies have a great time, find cool places, do fun things, and get their questions answered, but nearly everyone is turned off by begging. Clue #2: Money Trees. Do a search for "money tree" and go find a few. These trees will give any avatar less than 30 days old a Linden or two. So go exploring, enjoy the journey, collect some Lindens, and spend them wisely at these fun newbie stores.
