The Washington Post reports that the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet met in Second Life, most of the committee members being SL newbies, with folks from Linden Labs, IBM and a tech firm that helps non-profits with technology. They met in the Rayburn House Office Building replica build (I'm not sure where that is on the grid), and asked questions about the virtual world.

This is a big step, a good step, and I'm impressed that these member of congress took it. After all, it would be important to have some idea of the virtual world if you are going to be making laws about it.
