Golfing at the Holly Kai Golf Resort in Second Life

The sim named Hollywood offers much to the sportsman: Golfing as well as sailing (and another entry on that is forthcoming!).

Golfing at the Holly Kai resort is a fun, immersive and challenging experience. This is definately not a beginner activity; you definitely should have your avatar movement and HUD management chops before jumping into a game of golf.

Though it seems complicated at first, the new step-by-step instructions for the course make it doable even without taking a golf lesson in-world. Get a free HUD to play, and plan on practicing on the driving range for about an hour (which will run you about L$50) to learn how to line up your shot and to get used to using the HUD, clubs and balls.

I must say, it is a nifty interface, and it is really cool to hear that click of the club connecting with the ball and then watch the tracers span through the sky as your ball arcs its way onto the fairway. It took me a few times to learn how to line up to address the ball in such a way that I didn't have to turn 270 degrees to get things pointing in the right direction, but once I figured that out, game play got much smoother.

This is a fun time, and well worth a visit. I'll also mention that the entire island is an excellent build, with quality grounds, buildings, great wildlife, and food and drinks available for everyone. The club holds regular golf tournaments and events as well, so you can meet other enthusiasts, or just have a good time even without ever swinging a club.
