Location: Cathedral (120,154,32)
After spending two days roaming the Isle of Wyrm and meeting some of the most helpful and coolest people in SL, I don't even know where to begin telling you about all the great fun that is here.
Plan on seeing plenty of dragons here. In addition to the many dragon residents in many varieties and sizes, the Cathedral on the Isle of Wyrm holds a long line of Dragon Eggs as well as a "Dragon Hologram Emitter" that will let you view any model of Dragon. Which is handy, if you happen to be choosing to purchase one of these OUTSTANDING Dragon avatars. You just don't get a sense of scale of these creatures from the pictures here - the adult dragons are HUGE.
There are three types of Dragon avatars: Hatchlings (baby dragons in tiny avatar form!), Wyrmlings, and Adults. You can buy any Hatchling or Wyrmling you like, but you can only buy the adult, full-sized Dragons four times a year: on solstice and equinox. Even then, there are only five of each kind of Dragon available. This keeps these wonderful Dragon avatars rare, appreciated and well-managed in SL.
The process of becoming a Dragon has also been well developed, making it an experience all by itself. Once you have bought an egg, you click on it to register the dragon. Then, you click on it to hatch the dragon - complete with sounds of egg-cracking and scratching! Then you can click and "open" as usual, copying the complex avatar to your inventory.
The Dragon HUD is fantastic. It lets you control the dragon's breath and aura, sound effects, and all the colors and textures all over your dragon. Amazing and well done; operating the HUD and avi makes the purchase feel very worthwhile.

Hats off to Daryth Kennedy for creating these wonderful Dragon avatars and one of the most intense and fun experiences in SL. A shout-out to Xandera Voom, who showed me around, explained things and helped me hatch my first Dragon with patience and enthusiasm.

And the best part is: it doesn't end with just the avatar. There is an entire Dragon community that encompasses an expanse of sims (the Isle of Wyrm sims), with a Counsel, events, and just plain great folks that love to have fun and love their Dragons even more.
Oh - my peak experience for day two of being a dragon? Taking an SL friend for her first dragon ride with my new avi. Totally fun!
If you buy a Dragon avi, be sure to read all the note cards and "how to buy" information - see the sign-in book at the front of the giant round hall for more information. It's very exciting, but take your time and soak in each step of the way... if you rush, you could trip over yourself and get confused - especially if you are new to SL. Dragons are some of the most complex avi's in SL, so keep your wits about you and take your time. Enjoy it - you'll only ever have one first hatching!
