This is a great example of terrific use of an island, both land and water!
The Washington Post reports that the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet met in Second Life, most of the committee members being SL newbies, with folks from Linden Labs, IBM and a tech firm that helps non-profits with technology. They met in the Rayburn House Office Building replica build (I'm not sure where that is on the grid), and asked questions about the virtual world.

Location: Cathedral (120,154,32)
After spending two days roaming the Isle of Wyrm and meeting some of the most helpful and coolest people in SL, I don't even know where to begin telling you about all the great fun that is here.
Plan on seeing plenty of dragons here. In addition to the many dragon residents in many varieties and sizes, the Cathedral on the Isle of Wyrm holds a long line of Dragon Eggs as well as a "Dragon Hologram Emitter" that will let you view any model of Dragon. Which is handy, if you happen to be choosing to purchase one of these OUTSTANDING Dragon avatars. You just don't get a sense of scale of these creatures from the pictures here - the adult dragons are HUGE.

Location: Voti (226,22,23)
The holidays means food, and if you are planning to host a party or even an SL dinner with a special friend or two, you might be looking for some cool in-world food. CAS is a great spot to find a buy terrific food.

When you teleport in, for a moment it seems a bit disorienting... after all, at first you can tell if you are standing on a floor of floating in space. And then, it's mesmerizing. Either bench works well as the largest viewing point, perfect for you and a friend on tour.

Location: Volcano Cay (164,168,23)
An amazing build. *This* is the kind of thing that Second Life was made for. This ship has class and style.

Location: Vine (241,187,108)
The Zen Living Headquarters is an imposing building, surrounded by lovely gardens. The sim has a wonderful sound-scape of flowing water, birds, and wind chimes. Another great place to escape your RL dramas.

Location: Windermere (224,194,33)
This library is a great one: it only contains all-original works by Second Life folks! The Blue Angel has weekly poetry jams and story nights, and all of them are archived into the volumes in their library: Bedtime Stories and Poetry Volumes. Really cool. Fun exporation both in 3D and in the realms of creative writers.
